OVERLAY

27 August – 1 October 2025, SU Gallery Space, Camberwell College of Arts

OVERLAY was a self-initiated group exhibition by our MA Sculpture 25’ cohort, held at the Arts SU Gallery, from 27 August – 1 October. The show was conceived as both a celebration and a reflection on our shared studio experience, bringing together diverse practices to explore how sculptural approaches can intersect, overlap, or diverge.

As a group, organising OVERLAY allowed us to collaborate beyond the studio, experimenting with curatorial strategies, spatial arrangements, and collective decision-making in a real-life scenario. The process highlighted the plurality of sculpture as language and strengthened our sense of community while presenting the public with a layered insight into our shared MA journey.

For me individually, this experience was invaluable in gaining professional skills such as exhibition design, promotion, budgeting, hosting a private view, and logistics. It also enabled me to position my work in dialogue with others, testing how context and presentation influence interpretation. These insights and hands-on experiences will be crucial as I move forward, shaping my practice and developing future opportunities for collaborations and exhibition-making.
