SUMMER
SHOW
PROPOSAL
My work explores five interwoven subjects:
- time: the language of repeated gestures as means of entry to belonging;
- the remembered space: familial rituals and the domestic;
- the interstitial space: absorbent, mutable, porous, architectures of intimacy;
- the invisible space: memory as operative element;
- the body: images of home through embodied materiality.
The exhibition will take the form of a minimal, spatially considered installation. It will include five unframed A4 hard-ground embossed, inkless etchings (wall-mounted with magnetic hangers); a woven glass piece (65 x 85 cm approx.) threaded with braided horsehair and red satin ribbons (wall-mounted); five circular floor compositions made of caraway seeds (5kg total); several braided strands of human hair with red satin ribbons (wall-mounted); a photograph of a miniature sculpture showcasing a collection of own hair woven into semi-translucent silk-paj (wall-mounted). The materials are ephemeral, fragile, and intimate, inviting close viewing and slow engagement.
I require generous floor space and clean, white-rendered walls. The work is silent and has no electrical or AV requirements. I do not require a darkened or cornered area; spotlighting may enhance certain wall-mounted elements. There are no ethical or health & safety issues.
